Getting Crafty

So I was on Pinterest a couple of days ago and came across the coolest project(s)! The first one is super easy! I've taken pics to help you get a visual of the project!

First project: HANDMADE COASTERS!!
All You will need is:

4x4 tiles ($0.16 at Home Depot)
Scrapbook paper
Mod Podge
Foam Paint Brush
felt circle stickers to stick on the bottom
Clear Spray Paint

Make sure to cut the paper a little smaller than your 4x4 tile (Brady told me this AFTER I did my first one lol)

Then slather Mod Podge onto the top of the tile.

Align the paper with the square and press down firmly, making sure there's no creases and what not. I also put some Mod Podge over the top to give it an extra glaze (you want to buy the kind with a gloss finish)

Once it is dry, go outside and spray clear spray paint over it.

Once the spray paint is completely dry as well as the Mod Podge, just simply stick 4 little felt circles on all the corners...and viola!

You now have 4 new coasters!!! Don't worry, if you don't have time to make these--I'll make some for you!! :)

Next project: UP-CYCLED SHOES!!

(just an fyi, this one isn't as easy as they make it look, so I've only completed one shoe! lol)

All you need is:
An old pair of shoes/ or fairly inexpensive pair
Mod Podge
1/4 yard of your favorite fabric
scissors
exacto knife
and patience ;)

I've had these for about 2 years, they're worn in & I cut the bows off.

Lay a piece of fabric over the top, trim around the edges so you don't have a ton of fabric hanging off.

Cut a slit down the middle, almost to the round part of the top.

Start putting Mod Podge at the top of the shoe, using plenty is ok. You want as little pleating as possible, so as you're draping the fabric, stretch it and smooth it across the shoe.

Continue on both sides, using plenty of glue.

Once you get to the heel of the shoe, fold the piece of fabric over so you don't see the fraying part. (I had to put a ton of glue back here to make it stick--but good news is--it dried clear!)

Once you're done with the easy part (gluing the outside) you need to cut some fabric off the inside, leaving about a 1/2 inch. Around the top, cut some slits, put glue on the inside of the shoe, and press firmly, then follow with the side and the heel and let dry completely. If you have tons of fabric hanging off of it, just take you exacto knife and cut around the edges, leaving only the fabric showing and non of the old shoe showing!

At the end you should have this finished product:

Doesn't even look like the same shoe!!

Hope you've enjoyed this! Have a great day everyone!

Ever had a social blog that you've been completely addicted to? Ha! Well I do...it's called Pinterest :). It's super fun and something my sister would very much enjoy doing! Now if I could convince my Hubbers to let me spend some $$ to do some of my own decorating...that would be great! So many ideas & not enough space to let me creativity explode!!! Go check it out...it's fun and well, addicting too! lol

Happy 15 YEARS!!!

The story of Christine & Pete Salinas

15 years ago today I saw my favorite & only sis get married to her best friend. I cried through the whole ceremony, but I was there..standing next to her, holding her bouquet. Never imagined I'd be typing this "love story" up right about now. You ask how they fell in love, well all I know is that I had some part in it--I was selling Girl Scout Cookies!! And just to make my sister happy, I walked up to Pete & asked him if he'd buy some cookies...he did & she was in love! He liked the SAME cookies as she did! Anyway...so here's my side of their story!

At the time that they got married, Christian was already born. But he was cute as a button and oh so smart! Well 3 years into their marriage, Pete adopted Christian. (It was cold that day & I got to skip school just to see this amazing thing happen!)  I believe Christine was preggers with Paige. And then she was born in May! She was beautiful & I had a blast dressing her up! (still do)  It was then that Pete & Christine decided they didn't want anymore kids. That they were happy with 2! Between the time that they decided this, Pete had surgery and between the time that they decided that that wasn't what God wanted for them...Pete got it reversed! And during all of that, it had been 5 years...and Brason was born! I'll always remember the meaning of his name, "Gift From God", granted they are, but let me finish my story ;). 2 years passed and then Landon was born. For the past 5 years (then till present) Brason & Landon have been inseperable! (Peat & Repeat ;)) 2 incredible short years later, Aiden was born!! Our little tubby monkey! He wasn't very socialable when extended family would come over, but he got over that once he met my sweet Brady for the first time..I'll admit, I was jealous! But at least he was happy! 2.5 years later, Christine was blessed with ANOTHER girl!!! After 4 boys and 1 girl, we were all ready for this little blessing to arrive! She was born in December, mommy & daddy gave her the name Noelle & baby girl is crawling & climbing and growing up too incredibly fast!!!
Needless to say, I'm a proud sister, sis-in-love & Aunt. I'm so truly blessed to call them MY family! And I know God definitely put you two together! Happy 15th Anniversary!

Have a blast on your date tonight! Love you both so much!
