Merry Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas Eve!!

Brady & I wish you all the happiness in the world this Christmas! We're going to be quite busy today & tomorrow, so I just wanted to come say Merry Christmas to all my blogger friends!!

We can't wait to celebrate our FIRST Christmas as a married couple. Today we're going to my sisters to celebrate with my parents, sis, BIL & nieces and nephews. And then later we're heading out to his parents house to stay the night so that we can spend Christmas with his side of the family.

Again, Brady I truly do wish you the Merriest of Christmases!! God Bless you all!!!

Don't forget the REAL reason we celebrate Christmas!

Matthew 1:18-25
18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about[d]: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet[e] did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[f] because he will save his people from their sins.”
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”[g] (which means “God with us”).
24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

thoughts & prayers

Thinking of my family a lot these days, especially the ones who are no longer with us...but with that said, I'm beyond blessed to still have the ones that I do have.

This is a simple blog post, requesting prayers for both my daddy & my sister.

Thanksgiving day, my daddy fell...twice..his balance is off, he's not eating much, he sleeps all day and he's just not doing good. I want my daddy to be here with me for as long as I can have him. I know that sounds selfish, but I'm human, I'm selfish. He will be going in to get a needle put in his arm...or chest, can't remember which one, so that he can start on dialysis soon.

My sister, Christine has been in pain the last couple of days. She found out yesterday that she's been having gall stones. Prayers needed for her because she may end up having her gallbladder taken out. Being a mom of 6 children, it's hard for her to stay down for long periods of time. Thankfully, she would only be down a max of 3 days, but it's still hard. Please pray for her during this time as well.

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
God Bless!

Granted its not the most perfect painting ever, but ignore that! Especially thought my niece would love this!!

I hope you all have a wonderful and thankful Thanksgiving!!

I love projects!

As you may know, I've recently been indulging in some Pinterest, which really got me wanting to do some "projects" So over the last couple of months my mom and I have gone garage sale shopping and have found some really cool items! While I was busy at Race for the Cure last weekend, my mom had found a little table! I didn't know where I was going to put it or what I was going to do with it! So I decided to PAINT IT PINK!!! Didn't know where I was going to put it and what I would do with a pink table, but as soon as I started thinking about it, I thought about my 2nd mom, Carla Covell. Let me just say that she is a HUGE part of the reason I'm so passionate about finding a cure for Breast Cancer! She didn't deserve to go through that, nor does anyone else! So scroll on down for the pics!! Hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoyed doing this project!

Next project was one for me...well for Brady & I for decorating at Christmas! It was simple, and would totally make this for anyone that wanted me to! You pick the colors! But since I'm the decorator in our home, I chose pink and white :) Can't go wrong with that!

This project only cost me about $10-15 because I got everything when it was 50% off at Hobby Lobby!

So if you find anything cool that could use a little paint and the help of my hands, I won't refuse it, but will make it better!

Happy Birthday Jena

HBTY! HBTY! HABT JENA! HBTY!

Jena,
I hope you take the time to read this today amongst everything else you'll be doing! It's crazy how time flies and how many memories we make along the way. Within this year and a half of knowing you, we've laughed together, cried together & gotten to know each other a little more each time we just sat and talked! (It's crazy how much we are ALIKE! Which I know is one of the reasons Brady said he fell in love with me :)) I couldn't be a more proud sis-in-law! You're amazingly gifted and talented and I hope you have an incredible birthday! I really do miss you and can't wait to see you this weekend!

And you thought I wouldn't post any pics! hehe boy were you wrong ;)

Blowing out the candles on the oh so delicious cake your mom always makes!

I really love this pic of us!
And I really love this one too!!!

I'll be sending you a special surprise later on tonight!

10 years ago today...

10 years ago today I was headed to Mrs. McGinnis' class, at that time I was in 10th grade. Just as soon as I got in there, it was a tad bit more chaotic than normal. People kept saying "Have you heard?" Finally Mrs. McGinnis turned on our TVs to channel 11 I believe, and there I saw it--videos of the planes crashing into the twin tower, the Pentagon and the one that crashed in PA. My heart sank about a million times for the people who died, for the families and for the rest of the world who were questioning all of it. Nobody really did any school work that day because we were just all in shock.

My heart still sinks for the families....

Getting Crafty

So I was on Pinterest a couple of days ago and came across the coolest project(s)! The first one is super easy! I've taken pics to help you get a visual of the project!

First project: HANDMADE COASTERS!!
All You will need is:

4x4 tiles ($0.16 at Home Depot)
Scrapbook paper
Mod Podge
Foam Paint Brush
felt circle stickers to stick on the bottom
Clear Spray Paint

Make sure to cut the paper a little smaller than your 4x4 tile (Brady told me this AFTER I did my first one lol)

Then slather Mod Podge onto the top of the tile.

Align the paper with the square and press down firmly, making sure there's no creases and what not. I also put some Mod Podge over the top to give it an extra glaze (you want to buy the kind with a gloss finish)

Once it is dry, go outside and spray clear spray paint over it.

Once the spray paint is completely dry as well as the Mod Podge, just simply stick 4 little felt circles on all the corners...and viola!

You now have 4 new coasters!!! Don't worry, if you don't have time to make these--I'll make some for you!! :)

Next project: UP-CYCLED SHOES!!

(just an fyi, this one isn't as easy as they make it look, so I've only completed one shoe! lol)

All you need is:
An old pair of shoes/ or fairly inexpensive pair
Mod Podge
1/4 yard of your favorite fabric
scissors
exacto knife
and patience ;)

I've had these for about 2 years, they're worn in & I cut the bows off.

Lay a piece of fabric over the top, trim around the edges so you don't have a ton of fabric hanging off.

Cut a slit down the middle, almost to the round part of the top.

Start putting Mod Podge at the top of the shoe, using plenty is ok. You want as little pleating as possible, so as you're draping the fabric, stretch it and smooth it across the shoe.

Continue on both sides, using plenty of glue.

Once you get to the heel of the shoe, fold the piece of fabric over so you don't see the fraying part. (I had to put a ton of glue back here to make it stick--but good news is--it dried clear!)

Once you're done with the easy part (gluing the outside) you need to cut some fabric off the inside, leaving about a 1/2 inch. Around the top, cut some slits, put glue on the inside of the shoe, and press firmly, then follow with the side and the heel and let dry completely. If you have tons of fabric hanging off of it, just take you exacto knife and cut around the edges, leaving only the fabric showing and non of the old shoe showing!

At the end you should have this finished product:

Doesn't even look like the same shoe!!

Hope you've enjoyed this! Have a great day everyone!

Pinterest....

Ever had a social blog that you've been completely addicted to? Ha! Well I do...it's called Pinterest :). It's super fun and something my sister would very much enjoy doing! Now if I could convince my Hubbers to let me spend some $$ to do some of my own decorating...that would be great! So many ideas & not enough space to let me creativity explode!!! Go check it out...it's fun and well, addicting too! lol

Happy 15 YEARS!!!

The story of Christine & Pete Salinas

15 years ago today I saw my favorite & only sis get married to her best friend. I cried through the whole ceremony, but I was there..standing next to her, holding her bouquet. Never imagined I'd be typing this "love story" up right about now. You ask how they fell in love, well all I know is that I had some part in it--I was selling Girl Scout Cookies!! And just to make my sister happy, I walked up to Pete & asked him if he'd buy some cookies...he did & she was in love! He liked the SAME cookies as she did! Anyway...so here's my side of their story!

At the time that they got married, Christian was already born. But he was cute as a button and oh so smart! Well 3 years into their marriage, Pete adopted Christian. (It was cold that day & I got to skip school just to see this amazing thing happen!)  I believe Christine was preggers with Paige. And then she was born in May! She was beautiful & I had a blast dressing her up! (still do)  It was then that Pete & Christine decided they didn't want anymore kids. That they were happy with 2! Between the time that they decided this, Pete had surgery and between the time that they decided that that wasn't what God wanted for them...Pete got it reversed! And during all of that, it had been 5 years...and Brason was born! I'll always remember the meaning of his name, "Gift From God", granted they are, but let me finish my story ;). 2 years passed and then Landon was born. For the past 5 years (then till present) Brason & Landon have been inseperable! (Peat & Repeat ;)) 2 incredible short years later, Aiden was born!! Our little tubby monkey! He wasn't very socialable when extended family would come over, but he got over that once he met my sweet Brady for the first time..I'll admit, I was jealous! But at least he was happy! 2.5 years later, Christine was blessed with ANOTHER girl!!! After 4 boys and 1 girl, we were all ready for this little blessing to arrive! She was born in December, mommy & daddy gave her the name Noelle & baby girl is crawling & climbing and growing up too incredibly fast!!!
Needless to say, I'm a proud sister, sis-in-love & Aunt. I'm so truly blessed to call them MY family! And I know God definitely put you two together! Happy 15th Anniversary!

Have a blast on your date tonight! Love you both so much!
